Making the perfect pancake
Radisson Blu Edwardian, London, 2017
Whether you call it Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Day, it’s next week on Tuesday 28th February and we’ve got our whisks at the ready.
Ash Wednesday marks the first day of Lent – 40 days of fasting and reflection in the Christian calendar, leading up to Easter Sunday – and is preceded by Shrove Tuesday. In times gone past, people would use up their fat, butter and eggs before the start of Lent and make pancakes.
Today, Pancake Day is still celebrated across the world, for religious reasons or otherwise. There are even pancake races you can take part in, for those looking for a bigger challenge.
We’ve put together the perfect pancake recipe from one of our chefs, for you to recreate at home with your family and friends. With step by step instructions, go pancake crazy with a mix of sweet, delicious fillings. We love the classic lemon and sugar recipe but we’ve heard that chocolate ice cream with banana works a treat too….
