A chocolate affair with Charbonnel et Walker
The May Fair, 2018
Spring signals the start of warmer weather, Easter and long Bank Holiday weekends. It’s the time of year we start to shed our winter layers and, with it, our winter mood.
With an emphasis on Easter and all the good things that come with it, we’re delighted to introduce Our Signature Afternoon Tea at May Fair Kitchen. In collaboration with master chocolatiers, Charbonnel et Walker – our new partners – we’ve added a chocolate twist to our popular Mediterranean-inspired tea.
For chocolate lovers and those wishing for a different take on the quintessential offering, elements of Charbonnel et Walker‘s decadent delicacies have been cleverly incorporated throughout.
Replacing the traditional sandwich course, a selection of four deliciously toasted bruschette start proceedings and draw on that summer holiday feel. The Mediterranean influence is apparent with crab, tomato, soft cheese & spinach and tomato & parmesan. It’s a lighter, fresher option to the English way of doing tea and leaves sufficient room for the sweet delights in store.
The chocolate scones go beautifully with the creamy vanilla mascarpone, paired with zesty lemon scones and a homemade orange and nectarine preserve. On the top tier, a shot glass of tiramisu nicely complements the moist, flourless chocolate and orange cake. A little pot of chocolate sauce is a lovely touch, coating the fresh doughnut.
Dotted in between each item are chocolate crowns (the first chocolate Madame Charbonnel ever made for Charbonnel et Walker) and a tempting assortment of truffles. It’s a winning combination and cleverly balanced. A hot chocolate with a glass of champagne seems the natural accompanying drink but a selection of teas and coffees are also on offer.
The May Fair Hotel and Charbonnel et Walker are two names synonymous with luxury and quality. Available until the end of June in the heart of London’s Mayfair, book yourself an Easter treat or give someone a gift to remember.
